Initiating Dialogue on Post-Disaster Reconstruction

SAWTEE implemented the project Initiating dialogue on post-disaster reconstruction with the financial support of The Asia Foundation, Nepal. The project was implemented in the aftermath of the devastating 2015 earthquake and the ensuing reconstruction process that called for discussions among various stakeholders on the economic impact of the earthquake.

The objective of this year-long project, starting in March 2017, was to identify and streamline issues that were touched upon by the disaster and reconstruction activities for research-backed dialogues among relevant stakeholders to develop a clear and broader picture of the reconstruction process. Under the project, research in nine thematic areas were undertaken and nine monthly forums were organized to disseminate the findings of the research. The research reports were then compiled and published into a volume. The findings of the research were also published in the form of policy briefs and media articles. The nine thematic areas were as follows:

  • Migration and labour dynamics in post-disaster Nepal
