A Panel Discussion on Climate Change, Agriculture Biodiversity and Food Security

At the sidelines of the Eleventh Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP11), South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) organized  a panel discussion on the theme “Climate change, agriculture biodiversity and food security”. This event will discuss the linkage between climate change, agriculture biodiversity and food security. The major focus of the discussion will be how climate change has been affecting agriculture biodiversity and hence food security. It will seek answers to some pressing questions such as: Are the effects the same throughout all countries? What should be the response mechanisms of developing and least-developed countries? Have existing international instruments adequately addressed this issue? What should be the future course of action? Can regional cooperation play a role?

Experts from South Asia working in related areas will put forward their views as panelists, which will be followed by views/questions/comments by participants from the floor.

The panel discussion will take place on 12 October 2012 at 1315 hrs in Hall 1 (Ground Level).

We cordially invite you to the panel discussion. Details about CBD COP11 are available at http://www.cbd.int/cop11 .
