About SAES-X

The tenth edition of the South Asia Economic Summit (SAES X) is being held in Kathmandu from 14-16 November 2017 with a theme Deepening Economic Integration for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in South Asia. This Summit will focus on various topics and issues important for the South Asia region under this overarching theme.

SAES is led by a group of five eminent think tanks that take turns to organize the annual event in one of the SAARC countries since 2008. The co-organizers are: South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), Nepal; Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bangladesh; Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), India; Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Pakistan; and Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS), Sri Lanka.

Launched in 2008, the South Asia Economic Summit (SAES) is a premier regional platform for discussing and analysing economic and development issues and challenges facing South Asian countries, and advancing the cause of regional integration and cooperation.

South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) is a regional network that operates through its secretariat in Kathmandu and member institutions from five South Asian countries, namely Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Over the last two decades SAWTEE has established itself as a leading think tank known for its policy-relevant research, capacity building activities and advocacy in South Asia.

National Planning Commission

The National Planning Commission (NPC) is the apex advisory body of the Government of Nepal for formulating a national vision, periodic plans and policies for development.

Ministry of Commerce

Ministry of Commerce, Government of Nepal is responsible for developing broad-based trade with forward and backward linkages to contribute to the national economy and poverty alleviation.
