Dr. Golam Rasul

Theme Leader-Livelihoods, ICIMOD, Kathmandu

Dr. Golam Rasul, Theme Leader, Livelihoods, at International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), is a development economist. He is a national of Bangladesh. Prior to his appointment as Theme Leader, ICIMOD, he has served as Head of Economic Analysis Division and Policy Development Specialist at ICIMOD for about nine years. Dr. Rasul holds a PhD in regional and rural development planning from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Dr. Rasul has worked for over a decade in the Bangladesh Civil Service in various ministries and in different capacities having been involved in formulation and implementation of national policies, plans and programmes. Along with development work, he has been actively involved in research in areas such as agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, food security, poverty alleviation, regional cooperation, food, water, energy nexus and sustainable development in South and Southeast Asia region. He has over 150 publications in books, refereed journals, policy briefs, position papers and technical reports and this includes 50 peer-reviewed articles in reputed journals. He provides policy inputs to ICIMOD member countries on a host of development issues.
