Mr. V.K. Kharbanda
Project Director, SARI for Energy Integration, Integrated Research and Action for Development, India
Mr. Kharbanda is an Electrical Engineer by training. He has been associated with the power sector – both public and private – in India and abroad for around 35 years now.
Before joining the Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), implementing partner of USAID for the South Asia Regional initiative for Energy integration Program, he worked for reputed organizations such as the National Hydro Electric Power Corporation, Power Grid Corporation of India, Power Finance Corporation (all Government of India undertakings) and Lanco power Trading (a private company in trading of electricity). While working with NHPC, he was deputed to Montreal (Canada) where he worked with SNC consultant for contracts and procurement of Chamera Hydro Power Project built with Canadian support. He has been the Nominee Director on the Board of Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Haryana Transmission Corporation.
He has extensive experience and expertise in the power sector in areas such as Design of hydropower Projects, Domestic and international contracts, Transmission line construction, Techno-economic appraisal of thermal and hydropower projects etc.
