Ms. Selima Ahmed

Founder President, BWCCI, Bangladesh

Selima Ahmad is President and Founder of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) and Vice Chairperson of Nitol-Niloy Group. She has been working in private sector development for last 30 years. She founded BWCCI in 2001 to empower women into businesses and has helped develop more than 8,000 women entrepreneurs. Under her leadership, BWCCI has undertaken 23 projects for capacity building of women entrepreneurs.
Ms. Ahmad holds important posts in national and international organizations. She is a Global Ambassador of The International Alliance for Women (TIAW). She is Chair of The Women Democracy Network of Bangladesh and Vice Chair of SAARC CCI Women Entrepreneur Council.

She was felicitated for her efforts and work at prominent platforms – the prestigious Oslo Business for Peace Award 2014, Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Award 2013, Islamic Development Bank Prize 2012, Priyadarshini Award 2012, TIAW World of Difference Award 2010, Best woman achiever 2005-06 by Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs of India. Recently, she has been awarded the “2014-2015 TIAW World of Difference Lifetime Achievement Award”.

She has an Undergraduate as well as Master degree in Business Management from Dhaka University and has done a number of courses in institutions based in the USA, Japan, Denmark and Canada. Ms. Ahmad is a fellow of Stanford University, USA.
